Arakanese/Rakhine Youth Killed by Burma Army’s Gunshot in Mrauk-U

Ko Maung Gree aka Bo Than Twan, son of U Maung Mra Sein a (22) years old Arakanese youth who was injured during a gunshot by Burma Army forces on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 has died on 24 July on Wednesday’s morning at around 9 am at the Mrauk-U hospital in Arakan.

The victim was seriously injured after he was being shot by the Burma Army forces when he was going to the rice field in Tein Nyo from his village Taung Myint by a motorboat with his elder sister and brother in law at around 1 pm on 23 July at Tein Nyo village. He was initially being admitted to the Tein Nyo hospital under Mrauk-U township with severe injuries in his head and then transferred to the Mrauk-U district hospital in the same day and in the following day at around 9 am he declared died by the hospital official before he was being shifted to Sittway General Hospital.

As of writing this report, AASYC has documented 45 Killing cases where 70 civilians have been killed during the armed conflict in Arakan in which 9 cases were directly committed by Burma Army since December 2018 after Burma Army announced the unilateral ceasefire in the five regional military commands in the country which excludes the western command region in Arakan.
