Location: Thai-Burma border/Thailand
Main Tasks and Responsibilities of a Volunteer at AASYC
- Producing AASYC’s monthly chronology and other publications research reports on human rights, political and peace process situation in Arakan/Rakhine state
- Researching and drafting articles for publication with AASYC staff members
- Editing Burmese to English language translations from Burmese & Arakanese news sources
- Assisting in writing, editing, drafting project proposals, publications, press release and statement in English
- Cross-referencing sources for accuracy
- Donor communication and fund raising
- Personal Qualification:
- University degree (Persons with strong knowledge on International human rights law and mechanisms will be given high priority)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and publishers
- Strong interest in Arakan/Rakhine and Myanmar politics
- Strong interest and experience in research
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong editing and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and under your own initiative
- Ability to work within tight deadlines
- Minimum commitment of five days a week for at least 6 months

- Must be flexible to eat what AASYC staff members eat in terms of foods
- Passionate about AASYC work
AASYC Provides:
- Accommodation in the AASYC’s Headquarters office
- Three meals per day- Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
